Labor Day 2010

Well, it's been a while since I posted. An eventful while, actually.

Let's see...after moving to San Diego, having my ex of 30 years get in a motorcycle accident and get seriously brain damaged (requiring my intervention as his designated power of attorney for everything), breaking a collar bone falling of a bike, evacuating because of the fires, getting a new job, getting my new home, getting lots of stuff stolen from my new home, etc. etc. I was just too exhausted to blog.

The new job, while allowing me to do cutting edge work, required 80 hour weeks for a homophoic boss.

Finally, this last May, the company was sold to a larger firm that doesn't require 80 hour weeks all year round. So finally I am catching up on sleep and starting to have energy for a life, meeting friends, unpacking boxes, etc. etc.

Then in July came the cancer diagnosis, followed by surgery in August. Now I'm getting ready for radiation. Feels like I barely recover from one blow and another falls.

But the new firm meant better health care coverage, thank goodness. And bigger liability, so they follow wage and hour laws and i think I'm covered by California disability laws, so the job is safe while I discover the ins and outs of radiation therapy.

So I think it's time to write again, if only to try to make sense of the chaotic flow that is life.
